Assessment Plan
Timeline:
Entry Level This unit will start by the students taking a quick survey to test their prior knowledge on chemical reactions. The survey is down below, and students should not feel pressured to get a perfect score since this will not affect their grade! Next I will introduce them to the six different types of chemical reactions in my teacher lecture and guided notes. Students will fill-in their guided notes and create their own example to recall the six different types of chemical reactions in order to make sure they have acquired the knowledge to be fully prepared for a quiz. Formative Students will then complete a webercise as a group of four to five students. This is an online assignment that introduces them to online interactives, games and education videos.Students will be able to better grasp different concepts related to chemical reactions in order to calculate ΔH. After students will complete an online graphic organizer assignment for homework. Students will be able to take a step back and look at the big idea by comparing two different phenomena’s and answering a driving question. Homework will also be given and corrected by fellow classmates during the class period. This will allow students to practice what they have learned and be ready to ask questions if something is to difficult or confusing. Students will also be given quizzes periodically to track their understanding and comprehension. Summative Students will be given a question, and they will follow the scientific method in order to come up with a lab proposal as a class. The experiment will consist of students reacting unknown solutions and evaluating the products and observing the end reaction. Having all the knowledge acquired about chemical reactions, this will test their application about the subject, and they will turn in a hard copy lab report stating their findings. The rubric is down below, and students will be graded harshly in the conclusion/discussion section. Lastly students will be given a test to finalize this unit. The test will consists of short response and calculation based questions. |
